Chiropractic Specialist in Middlebury
Dr. Richard J. Caskey, 67, of Middlebury passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 18, 2018. He was the loving husband of Danuta (Lachowski) Caskey.
Richard was born in Buffalo, N.Y., Dec. 9, 1950, son of Ann (Calder) Caskey and the late Robert Caskey. Richard received his Doctorate in Chiropractic from the National Chiropractic College in Lombard, Ill., and was the valedictorian of the Class of 1978. He was a Chiropractic physician who specialized in Applied Kinesiology, nutrition and Functional Medicine.
Dr. Caskey had been in active practice for 40 years and was the founder of the Caskey Wellness Center in Middlebury, Conn. During his years of practice, he not only emphasized the importance of patient care and education, but also taught many young aspiring doctors over the years. He was passionate about learning and dedicated much of his time and energy educating himself. His advanced studies led to expert recognition by attaining two diplomates in nutrition and a diplomate in Applied Kinesiology. Dr. Caskey is well known in the field, not only locally, but nationally for his reputation as being a “true healer.”
Richard could oftentimes be seen with a book in his hand, as he was a voracious reader. In his early years, Richard played multiple sports and continued to be physically active into his later years. He spent many years as a soccer coach training young athletes. Richard was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed following the N.Y. Yankees, Buffalo Bills and UConn basketball teams. Nothing gave him more joy than to spend quality time with his own family.
Besides his wife, Danuta, of 43 years, he leaves his two sons, Dr. Justin D. Caskey and his wife, Taline, and Richard’s granddaughter, Summer of West Hartford, and Dr. Ashton J. Caskey of Middlebury, and his brother, Douglas Caskey of Buffalo, NY.
