Lecture on “The Nutcracker” Thursday

Main Street Ballet and Arts Escape will explore George Balanchine’s “The Nutcracker” Thursday, Nov. 20, at 10:30 a.m. at B’nai Israel Synagogue at 444 Main St. N. in Southbury. This ballet has become a staple of the holiday season. How and why did it become so popular?

“The Nutcracker” is one of the most complex theatrical staged ballets in the New York City Ballet’s active repertoire. Main Street Ballet’s Artistic Director Sibley Morosco will discuss the ballet, the costumes and sets with footage from the New York City Ballet. This program will run for one hour. Admission is $5 and can be paid at the door. For more information, call Arts Escape at 203-405-6751.
