On March 15, 2015, Middlebury officers responded to a complaint a suspicious person was repairing a car on Bona Road. When they arrived, they were met by two individuals who gave conflicting information as to why they were repairing their car on a secluded side street. Both parties were checked via the NCIC/Collect system, and it was determined the passenger, later identified as Joseph Pratt, formerly of Mossup, Conn., had outstanding warrants from the Wolcott Police Department and from the State of Florida.
The warrant out of Florida was an extraditable warrant for probation violation. Pratt was arrested, transported to Middlebury Police Department, and detained for Wolcott officers. He was charged with the warrant out of Wolcott and will be detained as a fugitive from justice on the Florida warrant, pending a hearing of extradition.
Middlebury Police Officers Blick and Adams traveled to Bergen County, N.J., March 12, 2015, to transport Ramon Johnson, 27, formerly of Glenview Avenue in Waterbury, back to Connecticut. Johnson was being held in Bergen County on unrelated charges and was served with a fugitive from justice warrant out of Connecticut for outstanding charges stemming from an incident in Middlebury Nov. 10, 2010. In that incident Johnson allegedly drove a stolen vehicle through the side of the Mobil Gas station at 492 Middlebury Road, causing an extensive amount of damage. Taken during the incident was an ATM machine containing approximately $2000. Damage to the building was estimated at $5000.
The stolen vehicle was later located in Waterbury and forensically processed. Information resulting from the investigation allowed officers to obtain an arrest warrant for Johnson in the incident. Johnson was charged with third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary and third-degree conspiracy to commit larceny and detained on a $10,000 bond. His court date was set for March 15, 2015.
