They served our country and now it’s time to say thanks. Rock Out for Vets!

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Inaugural Vet Fest will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017, from 12 to 5 p.m. at Library Park at 267 Grand St. in Waterbury. This free USO-style event aims at bridging the generation gap among young and old veterans through a family-friendly event.

Vet Fest is expected to bring hundreds to Library Park. The event will feature:

Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy this free event. The rain date will be Sunday, May 21.

This event was organized by a group of young professionals from Leadership Greater Waterbury, a Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce program, that chose to champion local veterans. They are: Lauresha Xhihani with Waterbury Hospital, Melanie Silva with MacDermid Performance Solutions, Caitlin McCullough with Crystal Rock and honorary member Sonny Olomi with CT Sign Shop. Vet Fest 2017 is a project that was born during their Leadership Greater Waterbury Class of 2017. Their whole-hearted passion for veterans comes from Sonny and two of their brothers who are veterans.

This event is made possible thanks to the generosity of corporate sponsors MacDermid Performance Solutions, Crystal Rock, Waterbury Hospital, and CT Sign Shop. Special thanks go to The Mason West Band and the 102nd Army National Guard Rock Band “Rip Cord,” who are donating their services. Money raised through the sale of merchandise and donations at this event will go to the Stand Down Fund, through the Connecticut Department of Veteran’s Affairs which helps homeless vets and vets in need.
