Learn three steps to help prevent suicide

#MIDDLEBURY #SUICIDE

Learn three steps you can take to help prevent suicide by attending a free program Wednesday, May 31, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Staywell Health Center at 80 Phoenix Ave. in Waterbury.

The program – QPR: Question, Persuade, Refer – is sponsored by the Central Naugatuck Valley Regional Action Council (CNVRAC). CNVRAC compares the program to CPR. Its program flyer says, “Just like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives.”

The program is designed to help you become a gatekeeper who can recognize signs someone is suicidal, offer them help and connect them to resources. QPR is evidence-based, heavily tested and has been peer reviewed.

Register for the training by emailing cnvrac2@famintervention.com or calling 203-578-4044.

Learn more about QPR at qprinstitute.com. The local program training and certification is provided at no cost thanks to Garrett Lee Smith Suicide Prevention Programs. The program is offered for residents in Beacon Falls, Bethlehem, Cheshire, Middlebury, Prospect, Southbury, Thomaston, Waterbury, Watertown, Wolcott and Woodbury.
