Middlebury Police Chief Fran Dabbo reports a Joy Road resident allegedly stole about $2,500 from his neighbor. On Aug. 17, Middlebury Police Department received a complaint from a Joy Road resident that approximately $2,500 was missing from his home. Based on information provided by the victim and an investigation conducted by Officer George Slaiby, Sean Knowles, 32, of Joy Road was identified as a suspect, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Knowles has been arrested in the past for interfering, possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly conduct, violation of a protective order, breach of peace, second-degree harassment, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officer Slaiby applied for an arrest warrant charging Knowles with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree larceny.

The morning of Aug. 26, the Torrington Police Department advised Middlebury Police that they had Knowles under arrest on one of their outstanding warrants. During a routine warrant check, they discovered Middlebury had an outstanding warrant for him.

Officers Slaiby and Patrick Deely responded to the Torrington Police Department and took Knowles into custody. He was transported to Middlebury Police Headquarters where he was processed and charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree larceny. He was later released on a $10,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in the Waterbury Court Aug. 28.
