Region 15 Superintendent of Schools Regina Botsford notified parents tonight, Oct. 30, that plans are for the region’s schools to open Tuesday, Oct. 31, on a 2-hour delayed opening, with the possible exception of Long Meadow Elementary School, which is without power as of Monday evening. The text of her message follows. Please note any call to Long Meadow parents and staff Tuesday saying the school will be closed rather than on a delayed opening will be made no later than 7 a.m.
Botsford’s text:
We are still without power in many areas of the region, and some main thoroughfares as well as local streets are still impassable due to downed trees and/or wires. Additionally, Long Meadow Elementary School is still without power.
We expect, however, to be able to open all schools and for our buses to be able to traverse safe transit routes to school for a two-hour delayed opening schedule tomorrow. Although we aim for as close to normal delayed opening bus schedules as possible tomorrow, we ask for your patience as drivers navigate what might be left of residue from the storm.
All Region 15 schools are on a two-hour delayed opening schedule tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017.
In the unexpected but possible scenario in which Long Meadow Elementary School is unable to open on a delayed opening schedule tomorrow, a separate announcement will be made to Long Meadow parents and staff to close school. If that announcement is necessary, it will be made by 7 a.m. If no such announcement is made by 7 a.m., Long Meadow and all Region 15 schools will be on a two-hour delayed opening schedule tomorrow.
