Among the towns in our readership area, Middlebury and Southbury have the largest number of households without power as of Tuesday, Oct. 31, at 6:30 a.m. Those numbers have been reduced by about 50 percent since last night, but Middlebury still has 267 households without power and Southbury has 246.
Police Chief Fran Dabbo said power has been restored to Long Meadow Elementary School. Region 15 is operating on a two-hour delayed opening this morning, but as of last night it wasn’t clear whether or not power would be restored to Long Meadow in time for it to open today. All Region 15 schools will now open on a two-hour delay.
Other area towns and cities are doing better than Middlebury and Southbury, with Waterbury at 138 households without power, Woodbury at 72, Oxford at 49, Watertown at 40 and Naugatuck at 30.
Statewide, the number has dropped from nearly 150,000 Eversource customers without power yesterday morning to 60,999 this morning.
