Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who donated over 700 Prayer Shawls

Mrs. Anne D. (LaPorta) Spaulding of Waterbury entered into eternal rest Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018. She was the wife of the late Everett Spaulding.

Anne was born in Oakville Oct. 26, 1922, a daughter of the late Domenic and Catherine (Marino) LaPorta. She attended Wilby High School until she had to leave to take care of her parents and earned her diploma from Waterbury Adult Education, having received her diploma from Wilby High school in 1995. She worked at Waterbury Buckle, Uniroyal Footwear and Caldor Department Store until her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting for friends, family and charity, going to the casino, bingo with her best friend, weekly dinners with the DiFronzos and, most of all, seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a son, Donald Spaulding and his wife, Lori, of Terryville and a daughter, Kathryn Longo and her husband, Joseph, of Middlebury; five grandchildren: David Longo and his wife, Jennifer; Joseph Longo and his wife, Kim; Donald (D.J.) Spaulding; Charles Spaulding; and Karen Spaulding; five great-grandchildren: Joshua Spaulding, Michael Longo, Giuliana Longo, Anthony Longo and Joseph Longo; a sister-in-law, Nancy LaPorta of Waterbury; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary DiFronzo, and her brothers, Anthony and Frank “Footsie” LaPorta.

Her funeral will be Monday, Jan. 8, at 9 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial / The Albini Family Funeral Home at 430 Chase Parkway in Waterbury to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Calling hours will be Sunday, Jan. 7, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
