Business at a Middlebury Town Meeting Monday, Feb. 5, at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium at Shepardson Community Center at 1172 Whittemore Road in Middlebury will be to vote on tree removal expenses. The question is whether or not to appropriate $100,000 from the town’s unassigned fund balance to Public Works Tree Care/Labor/Equipment/Reserve to cover dead ash tree removal.
The emerald ash borer has killed many ash trees in Connecticut and in Middlebury. Public Works Director Dan Norton is trying to remove the dead trees before they fall and harm people or property.
