Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother

Mrs. Kimiko (Monma) Crowder, 84, of Middlebury died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018 with her daughter Jackie by her side. She was the loving wife of the late Guy Eston Crowder who passed away in 2007.

Kimiko was born in Hokkaido, Japan on Jan. 11, 1934, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Saboro Monma. She came to the United States in 1961 with her husband, Guy, who was in the Army. They were a military family that traveled the world. They lived in Leesville, La., for many years before relocating to California. Kimiko enjoyed cooking, was an avid skier and artist, an accomplished skeet shooter, bowler and pool player. She volunteered making sandwiches for the homeless at St. John of the Cross Church for St. Vincent DePaul.

She leaves two sons: John Crowder and his wife, Christine, of Leesville, La., and James Samuel Crowder of Oceanside, Calif.; three daughters: Julie Davis and her husband, Glen, of Riverside, Calif., JoLynn Oerlemans and her husband, Gerald, of Hesperia, Calif., and Jackie Desmarais and her husband, Robert, of Middlebury, Conn., with whom she lived; 12 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

A funeral service with the cremains present will be held, Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial Funeral Home. Burial of her cremains will be held at a later date in Riverside National Cemetery in San Bernadino, Calif. Calling hours will be Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home at 430 Chase Parkway in Waterbury, Conn.
