Region 15 joins the majority of Connecticut school districts that have closed their schools today because of our third nor’easter in less than two weeks. The 5 a.m. forecast from WTNH says our area may get up to 14 inches of snow before the storm ends tonight. If the district has other closures, days will need to be made up from the April Spring Break. Superintendent Regina L Botsford said the following this morning.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning today, and the forecast calls for snow to continue into the afternoon, with a total accumulation of 5 to 9 inches likely by noon. Given the expected timing and amount of snowfall, we will not be able to open school on either a regular schedule or an altered schedule today.
All R15 schools are closed today, Tuesday, March 13, 2018.
This is our 10th weather closure this year. As indicated on our district calendar, and as I communicated in a reminder email on Feb. 12, this means that if it is necessary to call any more school closures after today, we will make up those days during Spring Break, beginning with Monday, April 16.
