Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother
Mrs. Paulina (Scata) Daddona, a remarkable and dynamic 104-year-old of Waterbury, widow of Rocco Carmen Daddona, passed away peacefully Monday, March 26, 2018.
Paulina was born in Lawrence, Mass., May 25, 1913, daughter of the late Emanuel and Rose (Gilberto) Scata. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Paulina was married to Rocco for 70 wonderful years. Their marriage was a true love story, encompassing devotion, honor and loyalty. The happiest times of her life were spent cooking for her family, baking and having coffee with her dear friends. She enjoyed watching classic movies, especially those starring the late Rudolf Valentino. She was a talented seamstress and always offered to sew for her loved ones. She crafted and tailored many articles of clothing on her foot pedal Singer sewing machine. She threaded her own needle up until the age of 102. Her strong will and determination carried her through her life with grace. Her life signature was, “I did it my way”. As the matriarch of the family, she had remarkable strength, courage and energy. Paulina’s spirit will always be cherished by her beloved family. Her presence was truly irreplaceable.
She leaves behind her son, Anthony R. Daddona of Weston; two daughters, Mary Papciak, and her husband, Henry, of Southington, and Roseann McKean, and her husband, Brian, of Middlebury; three grandchildren, Marybeth (Papciak) Dorio and her husband, David, Lynda (Papciak) Crescenti and her husband, Melchior, and Jennifer McKean; four great-grandchildren, Lyndsay Crescenti, Melchior Crescenti II, Kevin Dorio and Rachel Dorio.
Her funeral will be Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home at 430 Chase Parkway in Waterbury to the All Saints Parish at Our Lady of Lourdes Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. A calling hour will be held Wednesday, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
