A low-cost rabies clinic for dogs and cats will be offered Sunday, June 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Town of Southbury garage on Peter Road in Southbury. The fee will be $15 per animal, cash only.
Dogs must be on leashes; cats must be in carriers. Cats on leashes will not be accepted. If your pet has previously been vaccinated for rabies, you need to bring written proof of the previous vaccination to qualify for a three-year vaccination. Rabies tags are not acceptable proof.
State law requires all cats and dogs over three months of age to be vaccinated against rabies. The clinic is sponsored by Southbury Animal Control, Southbury Veterinary Hospital and the Pomperaug District Department of Health.
Southbury residents will be able to purchase their 2018 dog licenses at the clinic. To do so, owners need to provide a rabies certificate and written proof the dog is neutered or spayed. Payments will be by check only. Find more information on dog licenses here.
