Loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and centenarian
Mrs. Ann A. Scoffone, 102, of Middlebury entered into the gates of heaven surrounded by her loving family at Waterbury Hospital Sunday evening, July 8, 2018. She was the loving wife of the late Carl J. Scoffone.
Ann was born in Waterbury May 17, 1916, a daughter of the late Gaspare and Carmela (Gigandelli) Aureli. Throughout her life she worked for U.S. Time as a supervisor, Grant’s Department Store and Two Cousins Restaurant in Waterbury. Ann was a devout Catholic, a diehard Yankees fan and had an array of hobbies including crossword puzzles, cooking and baking, playing in bowling leagues, her poker club and playing bingo at the Middlebury Senior Center. She also loved working the polls during elections in the Town of Middlebury which she did up to her 100th birthday.
Ann leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Nancy Robison and her husband, Matthew, of Middlebury as well as her two granddaughters, Heather Dragone and her husband, Brian, of Pottstown, Penn., and Courtney Rebelo and her husband, Michael, of Waterbury. She also leaves behind her two great grandchildren, Nicholas and Christian Dragone, and her sister-in-law, Joan Aureli, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Armand Aureli, Mary Albini and Eve Dunn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, July 13, at 9:30 a.m. at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Waterbury. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the Basilica. Burial of cremains will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours with her cremains present will be held Thursday, July 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home & Crematory at 200 Benson Road in Middlebury, Conn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ann’s memory to either the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department, 65 Tucker Hill Road, Middlebury, CT 06762 or the Middlebury Senior Center, 1172 Whittemore Road, Middlebury, CT 06762.
