Pierre J. Hakim Obituary

Loving son, brother, and uncle

Attorney Pierre J. “P.J.” Hakim, 35, recently of Cheshire and formally a longtime resident of Middlebury, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, July 15, at Midstate Medical Center. He was the widower of Cristine Marin Hakim.

Pierre was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Nov. 7, 1982, the son of Dr. Gabriel and Paula (Sleeman) Hakim. He was a student of the Region 15 School System where he finished from Middlebury Elementary School, Memorial Middle School, and Pomperaug High School. He did his undergrad at Quinnipiac University and also graduated from Quinnipiac University Law School. He began his career in the Foreclosure Court in Waterbury and was presently working as a Family Relations Counselor of the Judicial Branch of the Middletown Court system. As an attorney he was liked and respected by his peers.

Pierre was a remarkable, intelligent, and kind young man. Whether it was sharing a fine cigar and scotch with his dad, or sharing a good story or laugh with his mom; he always put his family first. He was a “Protector” to all. His family, friends, and clients could always count on him for good advice and direction. P.J.’s laugh was contagious! His jokes, funny impressions, and humor will be sorely missed.

Besides his parents of Middlebury, Pierre leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Nadia Hakim, and his nephew and godson, Mathew Stevenson. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 21, at 10 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Church in Middlebury. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church.
