Our earlier post today (now removed) said it was the last day to register to vote in the Aug. 14 primaries. That is not completely correct. Middlebury’s registrars of voters will enroll voters today, Tuesday, July 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the registrars office at Middlebury Town Hall at 1212 Whittemore Road in Middlebury. Registrars also will hear requests for names to be put back on the registered voters list from those whose names have been removed from the list.
In addition, the Mail-In Voter Registration card says the following about voter registration deadlines for new voters in a primary: “Your application must be postmarked by the 5th day before a primary (OR received by your Registrar of Voters or a voter registration agency by the 5th day before a primary). You may apply in person to your town clerk or registrar until 12:00 noon on the last business day before a primary.”
Thanks to Town Clerk Edith Salisbury for her help. We will speak with the registrars of voters this evening to be sure a further correction is not needed.
