Loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather
Paul T. Babarik, 77, of Middlebury entered into the gates of heaven surrounded by his loving family on Sunday evening, Aug. 19, 2018, at the VITAS inpatient unit at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the loving husband of Annette (Boucher) Babarik of 56 years.
Paul was born June 19, 1941, son of the late Peter and Doris (Salerno) Babarik. After high school he attended the Connecticut School of Electronics and also continuing adult education classes at Hartford University. He worked as an engineer at AT&T for 25 years and also Veramark Technologies for 20 years. He was a past Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus Council 3992. Paul also was an elected finance chairman for Region 15 Board of Education, president of the Columbus Club in Middlebury, Republican Town Committee member, Eucharistic minister and justice of the peace.
Besides his wife, Annette, Paul leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, David Babarik and his wife, Ana, of Waterbury and Christine Harris and her fiancé, Raymond Scott Chairs, of Gaithersburg, Md. He also leaves behind his brother, Anthony Babarik, and his husband, Jean Baptiste Bacquart, of London, England; his four grandchildren, Matthew Jr., Cassie, Rebecca and Eric Harris; and his two great-grandchildren, Matthew III and Rosaleigh Harris.
The funeral will be Saturday, Aug. 25, at 9 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home at 430 Chase Parkway in Waterbury to St. John of the Cross Church in Middlebury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, Aug. 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
