October is Bullying Awareness Month, and the Middlebury Public Library is having several events during the month that focus on bullying prevention. The first two will be Monday, Oct. 1 – a presentation on bullying awareness and the start of the Stand Up (to bullying) Poster Contest.
The library will host a meet-and-greet with members of our community during a Bullying Awareness Kick-off Monday, Oct. 1, at 4 p.m. First Selectman Ed St. John, Police Chief Fran Dabbo, Library Board of Trustees members and Chairman Rita Smith, Region 15 Board of Education members, and honored guests will attend. Refreshments will be served.
The Stand Up Poster Contest for students in grades K-12 begins Monday, Oct. 1. Pick up blank posters and rules and regulations Oct. 1 – 18. All posters must be submitted to the library by Friday, Oct. 19, at 5 p.m.
Judging will be Thursday, Oct. 25, at 4 p.m. First prize is a $100 Amazon Gift Card, second prize is $75 Barnes and Noble Gift Card and third prize is a $50 Riverview Cinemas Gift Voucher. Prizes are sponsored by the Friends of the Middlebury Public Library Inc.
