Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather
Mr. Thomas A. Thomas, 99, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019 at the Village at East Farms in Waterbury. He was the loving husband of the late Anne (D’Angelo) Thomas who passed away in 2012.
Thomas was born in Waterbury June 21, 1919, a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Litfe) Thomas. He attended St. Mary’s Elementary School, and was a graduate of Crosby High School Class of 1936. He served his country honorably in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He owned several grocery stores in the Waterbury area, the last being the Middlebury Store in Middlebury. He enjoyed playing the horses and was avid Red Sox fan, but he loved and treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Thomas leaves his son, Joe Thomas and his wife, Joanie, of Waterbury and his daughter, Kathy Deluca and her husband, Bud, of East Greenwich, R.I.; four grandchildren, Brian and his wife, Carrie; Jen and her husband, Jordan; Melissa; and Heather and her husband, Wil; and four great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Connor, Liam and Owen, and also his brothers-in-law, John Rossi and Anthony D’Angelo; and his sister-in-law, Julie DelGobbo. He was predeceased by his brother, John Thomas, and his two sisters, Jessie Koosa and Elizabeth Carlo.
His funeral will be Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at 11 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home at 430 Chase Parkway in Waterbury to St. Francis Xavier Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. Calling hours are today, Monday, Jan. 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Thomas’ name to St. Francis Xavier Church, 625 Baldwin St., Waterbury, CT
