Doris Mae Valentine, 97, of Middlebury passed away Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2019 at the Lutheran Home in Southbury. She was the widow of Edwin H. Valentine who predeceased her in 2005.

Mrs. Valentine was born May 12, 1922 in Waterbury daughter of the late Michael and Myrtie (Tucker) Donovan.

Doris graduated for Naugatuck High School, Class of 1940. She was the town clerk for the Town of Middlebury for 10 years prior to her retirement. Mrs. Valentine was a member of the Middlebury Congregational Church, where she served on the Women’s Fellowship and the Board of Deacons.

Mrs. Valentine is survived by her two sons, William E. and his wife, Annie Valentine, of Prospect and James M. and his wife, Carla Valentine, of Grove City, Ohio; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; two step-grandsons; and one step great-grandson. She was predeceased by her son Robert Valentine, and her siblings, Marion Terry, Ralph Donovan, and John Donovan.

Doris’s funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 17, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Middlebury Congregational Church at 1242 Whittemore Road in Middlebury. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, and there are no calling hours.
