Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather

Ralph D. Ciarleglio Jr., 90, of Middlebury passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019 at his home. He was the loving husband of Eileen (Salle) Ciarleglio.

Ralph was born in Waterbury, Connecticut, on March 27, 1929, son of the late Ralph and Anna (Mara) Ciarleglio Sr. He attended local schools and graduated from Leavenworth High School Class of 1947. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served four years from 1947 to 1951 and was stationed on Guam in the Pacific Theatre and later at Westover Field in Massachusetts. He was a member of the Cheshire VFW Post 8075 for many years, serving as chaplain. After marrying Eileen in 1952, Ralph moved to Middlebury in 1954. He was a self-employed building and remodeling contractor for many years, retiring in 1993.

Besides his wife, Eileen, of 67 years, he leaves his children, Michael R. Ciarleglio and his wife, Ruth, of Litchfield, Connecticut; James F. Ciarleglio of Middlebury, Connecticut; and Susan M. Ubben of Woodbury, Connecticut; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Halay.

The family would like to thank the VITAS Team No. 265 Staff of Middlebury, Connecticut, for their care and compassion given to Ralph during his illness.

A Mass of Christian Burial with the cremains present will be held Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, at 10 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Church at 182 Robbins St. in Waterbury, Connecticut. Everyone is asked to meet DIRECTLY at the church. Burial will follow with full military honors at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.

There are no calling hours. Brookside Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home & Crematory at 200 Benson Road in Middlebury, Connecticut has been entrusted with Ralph’s services.
