At 4:30 p.m. Monday, state officials said there were 2,571 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Connecticut as of 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 30. This is an increase of 578 cases over the 1,993 the day before at 12:30 p.m. The number of confirmed cases in Middlebury increased to 6 from 5.
The groups with the largest number of cases were ages 50 – 59 (550 cases) followed by ages 40 – 49 (427 cases) and ages 60 – 69 (406 cases).
On a graph showing how many people per 100,000 in each age group are testing positive, the three highest rates of positive tests are ages 50 – 59 (104 cases per 100,000), ages 40 – 49 (97 cases per 100,000) and ages 80 and older (97 cases per 100,000).
The report said a state public health lab tested 1,878 patients, and 306, or 16%, of those tested positive. However, Governor Ned Lamont, at his 4:30 p.m. press conference said 2,700 had been tested and 21% were positive. Statewide, more than 14,600 tests have been reported.
On Monday, March 30, 517 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, and 36 had died. Fairfield County had 230 patients, New Haven County had 176 patients, and Hartford County had 96 patients. Other counties had 7 or fewer patients.
