At 4 p.m. Thursday, Connecticut state officials said there were 9,784 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state as of 12 p.m. Thursday, April 9. This is an increase of 1,003 cases over the 8,781 the day before at 6:30 p.m. The number of confirmed cases in Middlebury remained at 14.
On Thursday, 1,464 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, and 380 had died.
The groups with the largest number of cases were ages 50 – 59 (1,968 cases) followed by ages 40 – 49 (1,626 cases) and ages 60 – 69 (1,561 cases).
On a graph showing how many people per 100,000 in each age group are testing positive, the three highest rates of positive tests were ages 80 and older (511 cases per 100,000), ages 50 – 59 (372 cases per 100,000) and ages 40 – 49 (369 cases per 100,000).
The report said a state public health lab tested 2,986 patients, and 810, or 27%, of those tested positive. Statewide, more than 33,502 tests have been reported.
Hospitalization numbers were: Fairfield County had 664 (-1) patients, New Haven County had 447 (+19) patients, and Hartford County had 276 (+25) patients. Other counties had 28 or fewer patients.
