At 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Connecticut state officials said there were 11,510 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state as of 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 11. This is an increase of 972 cases over the 10,538 the day before at 12:30 p.m. The number of confirmed cases in Middlebury increased to 15.

On Saturday, 1,593 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, and 494 had died.

The groups with the largest number of cases were ages 50 – 59 (2,273 cases) followed by ages 40 – 49 (1,887 cases) and ages 60 – 69 (1,854 cases).

On a graph showing how many people per 100,000 in each age group are testing positive, the highest rates of positive tests were ages 80 and older (664 cases per 100,000), ages 50 – 59 and ages 60-69  (tied at 429 cases per 100,000) and ages 40 – 49 (428 cases per 100,000).

The report said a state public health lab tested 3,225 patients, and 945, or 29%, of those tested positive. Statewide, more than 39,831 tests have been reported.

Hospitalization numbers were: Fairfield County had 676 (-9) patients, New Haven County had 514 (+21) patients, and Hartford County had 311 (+15) patients. Other counties had 38 or fewer patients.

456 cases were pending address validation.

Cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 15, Naugatuck – 69, Oxford – 33, Southbury – 53, Woodbury – 13, Watertown – 38, Waterbury – 490.
