At 6 p.m. Saturday, Connecticut state officials said there were 29,287 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state as of 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2. This is an increase of 523 cases over the 28,764 the day before at 12 p.m. The number of confirmed cases in Middlebury decreased to 34. No reason was given for the decrease.
On Saturday, 1,551 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 41 patients, and 2,436 had died, an increase of 97 deaths.
Cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 34, Naugatuck – 190, Oxford – 64, Southbury – 143, Woodbury – 35, Watertown – 94, Waterbury – 1,388.
