At 4 p.m. Monday, Connecticut state officials said there were 29,973 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state as of 8:30 p.m. Sunday, May 3. This is an increase of 661 cases over the 29,287 on Saturday, May 2, at 2:30 p.m. The number of confirmed cases in Middlebury decreased to 33. No reason was given for the decrease.
On Monday, 1,464 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 24 patients, and 2,556 had died, an increase of 61 deaths.
Cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 33, Naugatuck – 193, Oxford – 66, Southbury – 142, Woodbury – 35, Watertown – 96, Waterbury – 1,394.
