Q: Will “Young Sheldon” be returning with new episodes this fall? It’s my favorite sitcom, and I love the tradition of all the new shows starting in the fall. Is that wishful thinking during this crazy year? – P.B.
A: As of now, CBS plans to launch the fall season as scheduled. Now, that could be delayed to November, which is technically still fall, but the network made a statement recently that “Young Sheldon,” with Iain Armitage in the title role, will air Thursday nights, followed by another Chuck Lorre-produced sitcom, “B Positive.”

BS is the only major network so far to announce plans to return to an on-time schedule of new episodes this fall. According to Entertainment Weekly magazine, Fox plans to have a “truncated” fall schedule, and the CW network is postponing its next new season until January. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that CBS’ optimistic thinking becomes a reality.
Q: I just discovered the show “Cable Girls” on Netflix, which is dubbed. Tell me about the actors. Some of them look familiar. When did it first appear on Netflix? – E.R.
A: “Cable Girls,” set in the late 1920s in Madrid, Spain, is about four women who work at a telephone company in a patriarchal society. It’s an original series produced by Netflix Spain that began in 2017. Filmed originally in Spanish, you have the option to watch it dubbed with English or have it play in Spanish but with English subtitles.
The four lead actresses are all of Spanish descent. Ana Fernandez, who plays Carlota, was born in Madrid and has been acting overseas since 2007. Her credits include the romantic comedy “Just a Little Chemistry,” which originally went by the title “Solo Quimica.” Both Nadia de Santiago, who plays Marga, and Ana Polvorosa, who plays Sara, starred in the series “Love in Difficult Times,” which is set during the Spanish Civil War. Lastly, Blanca Suarez, who also narrates the show, plays Lidia and is probably best known for her roles in “The Boarding School” and “The Boat.” She also acted in acclaimed director Pedro Almodovar’s film “The Skin I Love In,” which earned her a Goya Award, which are like the Oscars of Spain.
Q: Whatever happened to the actress who starred in the TV show “Castle”? I haven’t seen her in anything since that show abruptly ended. – Y.M.
A: Stana Katic, who played Kate Beckett opposite Nathan Fillion’s Richard Castle, was let go by producers shortly before the show was canceled. It was reportedly for budget reasons, but it was a huge disappointment for fans who loved the romantic chemistry between the two leads.
Katic currently stars in the Amazon TV series “Absentia” as an FBI agent accused of murder. She recently told Australia’s “Daily Telegraph” that her conclusion with “Castle” left her “confused” and “hurt,” but that she was “so thankful” to have been a part of it. As for Fillion, he stars in the ABC police drama “The Rookie.”
