Reopening Phase 2 Plan
Written by Library Director Jo-Ann LoRusso
July 9, 2020
In accordance with the Reopening Connecticut Sector Rules for Libraries by Governor Lamont, The Middlebury Public Library’s services continue while we safely reopen the building and library services to the public in phases. We are presently entering Phase 2.
Beginning Friday, July 10, 2020, the Middlebury Public Library hours of operation are as follows: Monday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm for Select from Home Pick Up Service and Monday through Friday from 10 am to 1 pm open to the public for browsing the stacks and checking out materials.
Select from Home Pick Up Service: Monday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm
The Middlebury Public Library will provide the following services to patrons without physical contact by offering a Select from Home Pick Up Service. Outdoor book carts are stocked daily with patrons’ holds. Our online catalog offers New York Times bestselling books, Nutmeg Award-winning titles, reading level kits, Teen Books to Movies sets, DVDs and themed bundles for adults to checkout. Virtual storytimes, mobile printing services, online databases, and free Wi-Fi are also offered. We have Tell Us Your Story project and virtual museum tours to our website, www.middleburypubliclibrary.org.
In addition, Ask a Librarian, a reader’s advisory service, is available by phone and online. The Middlebury Public Library staff will create a personalized reading list based upon the patron’s personal reading interests such as favorite authors, genres and titles. The patron fills out a Reader’s Advisory form created by our library staff to help with the selection process. It is available on our website. Next, our library staff will build a list of up to seven suggestions that we will either email or print for the patron.
Open to the Public: Monday through Friday from 10 am to 1 pm
The Middlebury Public Library will reopen the building to the public in accordance with the Governor’s Reopen Connecticut Sector Rules for Libraries. This Phase 2 will allow browsing in the stacks and checking out materials with restrictions. Please refer to the Code of Conduct Policy: COVID-19 Addendum list below.
Copying/faxing, meeting rooms, daily newspapers, magazines, study rooms, public access computers, book donations, and volunteers are temporarily suspended due to Reopen Connecticut Sector Rules.
The safety of the community and library staff continues to be our top priority!
