Jean E. (Crochetiere) Packard, 80, of Middlebury passed away on November 18, 2020, at Sheriden Woods in Bristol. She was the widow of Raymond B. Packard.
Jean was born November 2, 1940, in Waterbury, the daughter of the late Robert and Germaine (Boucher) Crochetiere. She was predeceased by her brother, Lucien Crochetiere. After growing up in Waterbury, Jean married Raymond in 1959 and moved to Watertown, where they raised their three children.
Jean’s family and friends remember her as not just a devoted wife, mother, Mimi and friend, but as a beautiful person inside and out. Jean had a fun-loving personality and love for life. She rededicated herself to God in 2000 and enjoyed growing spiritually over the years. She was an amazing artist who enjoyed painting and drawing. She loved nature, music, dancing and traveling the United States, Caribbean and Europe, but most especially, she was a lover of her family and God! Jean’s career spanned many decades. She became a legal secretary at the age of 18, and had a long career at Waterbury Hospital before retiring.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Rae Lynn (Michael) Giannaccio of Middlebury; two sons, Steven (Laurie) of Wisconsin, and David (Heather) of California; as well as grandchildren, Lindsay (Zak) Olive, Michael (Kristyn) Giannaccio, Hannah and Ryan Packard, Kaitlyn Miller, Jonathan Packard, Aimee Mitchell and Josiah Packard; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Machlan Olive, Ashur and Judah Miller and Ella Mitchell; and cherished brothers- and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the loving and compassionate staff at both Active Day Senior Care of Middlebury and Watertown Convalarium. She was happy and fulfilled spending her days with you, and for that we are forever thankful.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 25, at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery at 183 North St. in Watertown. There are no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hickcox Funeral Home at 195 Main St. in Watertown.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. For additional information or to leave an online message of condolence, please visit www.hickcoxfuneralhome.com.
