Report Highlights*

  • The cumulative number of cases in Middlebury rose to 370 in the latest report from state health officials.
  • The state daily test positivity rate as of Wednesday, December 23, at 8:30 p.m., was 5.43%, down from 6.08% Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.

On Thursday, December 24, 2020, Connecticut state officials said on Wednesday, December 23, at 8:30 p.m., there were 172,743 COVID-19 cases in the state. This is an increase of 2,038 cases since Tuesday, December 22, at 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 1,200 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 45 patients, and deaths numbered 5,791, an increase of 55 deaths.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 343 confirmed (+16) and 27 probable (+1), Naugatuck – 1,639 confirmed and 98 probable, Oxford – 380 confirmed and 22 probable, Southbury – 649 confirmed and 45 probable, Woodbury – 311 confirmed and 14 probable, Watertown – 1,117 confirmed and 95 probable, and Waterbury – 8,016 confirmed and 542 probable.
