On Monday, January 4, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Friday, January 1, 2020, at 8:30 p.m. to Sunday, January 3, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 194,636. This is an increase of 4,516 cases over 48 hours.

On Sunday at 8:30 p.m., 1,111 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 55 patients, and deaths numbered 6,168, an increase of 69 deaths.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 410 confirmed (+17) and 33 probable (+ 2), Naugatuck – 1,837 confirmed and 115 probable, Oxford – 446 confirmed and 24 probable, Southbury – 738 confirmed and 50 probable, Woodbury – 342 confirmed and 19 probable, Watertown – 1,272 confirmed and 104 probable, and Waterbury – 8,921 confirmed and 580 probable.
