Local businessman, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and great uncle

Mr. Vincent B. LoRusso Sr., 77, of Waterbury, entered into the gates of Heaven Thursday, January 7, 2021, at Waterbury Hospital due to complications from COVID-19.

Vinnie was born at Griffin Hospital in Derby, Connecticut, February 4, 1943, a son of the late Bartholomew and Marie (Savignano) LoRusso. He graduated from Croft High School Class of 1961 and immediately pursued his life’s passion.

As the driving force of Bart LoRusso and Sons, Nichols Realty and The General Stone Co., Vinnie, along with his brother Bart Jr., transformed their father’s hauling business into a successful construction, development and aggregate-supply company. With an unparalleled work ethic, determination and a dedicated core of employees, Vinnie and his brother were able to transform many locations in Waterbury, Naugatuck, Prospect and Middlebury into beautiful and distinctive residential and commercial developments.

Vinnie was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and great uncle, who treasured Sunday dinners with his family and workdays spent with his brother and best friend, Bart. He was a classic-car enthusiast and collector who rarely missed the renowned Antique Auto Club of America Fall Meet in Hershey, Pennsylvania, with his family. Vinnie instilled both a strong work ethic and a love for classic cars in his sons.

Vinnie Sr. is survived by his sons, Vincent B. LoRusso Jr. and his wife, Jo-Ann C., of Middlebury and William J. LoRusso and his wife, Casey, of Wolcott. He also leaves behind his former wife, Virginia (Ginny) LoRusso; his beloved grandchildren, William L. LoRusso, Joelle M. LoRusso, Benjamin J. LoRusso, John V. LoRusso and James B. LoRusso; his sisters, Victoria (Vicki) Quinn and her husband J. Brian Quinn and Josephine Anne (JoAnn) Flanagan and Greg Gorman, all of Cheshire, and Elizabeth (Liz) Forrest of Greenwich; a sister-in-law, Linda LoRusso, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Bartholomew (Bart) J. LoRusso Jr.

Due to the limitations of the current Covid-19 pandemic, all funeral services for Vinnie are going to be private and at the convenience of the family. Chase Parkway Memorial, The Albini Family Funeral Home in Waterbury has been entrusted with handling Vinnie Sr.’s funeral arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Vincent B. LoRusso Sr.’s memory to the Restoration Fund of the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception: The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 74 West Main St., Waterbury, CT 06702.
