On Friday, January 22, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Thursday, January 21, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 237,815. This is an increase of 2,019 cases over 24 hours.

On Thursday at 8:30 p.m., 1,058 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 11 patients, and deaths numbered 6,819, an increase of 45 deaths.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 475 confirmed (+3) and 37 probable (no change), Naugatuck – 2,206 confirmed and 163 probable, Oxford – 567 confirmed and 32 probable, Southbury – 890 confirmed and 66 probable, Woodbury – 401 confirmed and 28 probable, Watertown – 1,462 confirmed and 140 probable, and Waterbury – 10,319 confirmed and 681 probable.
