James Howard “Jim” Johnson, 70, of Waterbury entered into rest Thursday, February 11, 2021, at VITAS at St. Mary’s Hospital. Jim was born June 18, 1950, in Waterbury, son of the late Wayne and Jean (Thompson) Johnson, and was a resident of Waterbury and Middlebury for most of his life.
Jim’s family had a cottage on Lake Quassapaug where they shared many memorable experiences with friends and out on their boat bass fishing. He had a deep-rooted faith and attended Bunker Hill Congregational Church in his younger years and was fond of Bible study and the good people at Carriage Manor where he lived in his later years.
Jim earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Quinnipiac University and worked for many years at Risdon as an environmental health and safety manager. Jim will be remembered for his warm smile, quick wit and for his genuine and caring personality.
He is the beloved brother of Wayne Johnson and his wife, Gladys, of New Haven and Mary Ellen Johnson of Rockport, Massachusetts and is also survived by his dear niece, Rosemary Johnson of New Haven.
Services for Jim will be private and at the convenience of his family. The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Waterbury has been entrusted with his care. To leave online condolence for his family or to share a story of Jim, please visit www.fordfh.com.
