Clocks need to be set an hour ahead for Daylight Saving Time Sunday, March 14, at 2 a.m., or you can set them ahead an hour before you go to bed Saturday night. Failing to do so will mean you likely will show up an hour late for Sunday events. The time change will give us more hours of daylight in the evening, which is nice during the warmer weather we soon will be enjoying, but for now it will mean children are again waiting in darkness for the morning school bus.
The U.S. isn’t the only country in the world that observes Daylight Saving Time. Most of North America, Europe and Scandinavia also do. Some countries in the Southern Hemisphere also observe it, but since their seasons are the reverse of ours, they start Daylight Saving Time in a month between August and November and end it between January and May. See a map and list of countries at www.timeanddate.com.
