On Thursday, April 8, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Sunday, April 4, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 319,779. This is an increase of 3,124 cases over three days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 2.41%, down from 3.28% Sunday, April 4, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.
On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 515 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 31 patients since Sunday, and deaths numbered 7,940, an increase of 17 deaths.
Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 592 confirmed (+7) and 72 probable (+6), Naugatuck – 2,954 confirmed and 285 probable, Oxford – 800 confirmed and 75 probable, Southbury – 1,167 confirmed and 192 probable, Woodbury – 535 confirmed and 63 probable, Watertown – 2,048 confirmed and 261 probable, and Waterbury – 13,452 confirmed and 1,348 probable.
