Report Highlights

  • Middlebury had 1 new confirmed case and 1 new probable case for the three days from Sunday, April 25, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.
  • The cumulative number of cases (confirmed and probable) in Middlebury rose to 702 from 700, an increase of 2 cases, in the latest report from state health officials.
  • Middlebury reported no new deaths from COVID-19; total deaths remain at 19.
  • As of April 22, 2021, Middlebury’s rate of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 fell for the first time after rising four times in a row as of April 15, 2021. As of April 22, the rate decreased to 27.7 cases per 100,000 for the period April 4 to April 17, 2021, (16 cases in week 1; 14 cases in week 2) from 37 cases per 100,000 for the period March 28, 2021, to April 10, 2021 (24 cases in week 1; 16 cases in week 2).

On Thursday, April 29, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Sunday, April 25, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 337,961. This is an increase of 1,028 cases over three days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 2.29%, down from 2.82% Sunday, April 25, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 407 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 29 patients since Sunday, and deaths numbered 8,080, an increase of 14 deaths.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 619 confirmed (+1) and 83 probable (+1), Naugatuck – 3,112 confirmed and 321 probable, Oxford – 836 confirmed and 87 probable, Southbury – 1,223 confirmed and 214 probable, Woodbury – 559 confirmed and 76 probable, Watertown – 2,155 confirmed and 291 probable, and Waterbury – 14,288 confirmed and 1,505 probable.
