Report Highlights

  • In a May 13, 2021, report Middlebury’s rate of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 fell for the fourth time in a row. The rate decreased to 10.1  cases per 100,000 for the period April 25 to May 8, 2021, (7 cases in week 1; 4 cases in week 2) from 16.6 cases per 100,000 for the period of April 18 to May 1, 2021, (11 cases in week 1; 7 cases in week 2).

On Thursday, May 13, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Sunday, May 9, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 344,612. This is an increase of 1,067 cases over three days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 1.57%, up from 1.41% Sunday, May 9, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 222 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 58 patients since Sunday, and deaths numbered 8,168, an increase of 14 deaths.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 626 confirmed (-1) and 88 probable (+1), Naugatuck – 3,168 confirmed and 331 probable, Oxford – 848 confirmed and 88 probable, Southbury – 1,235 confirmed and 218 probable, Woodbury – 562 confirmed and 79 probable, Watertown – 2,188 confirmed and 298 probable, and Waterbury – 14,645 confirmed and 1,575 probable.
