This is an increase of 1,027 cases over four days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Sunday, May 16, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 1.33%, down from 1.57% Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.
On Sunday at 8:30 p.m., 170 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 52 patients since Wednesday, and deaths numbered 8,194, an increase of 26 deaths.
Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 627 confirmed (+1) and 87 probable (-1), Naugatuck – 3,177 confirmed and 332 probable, Oxford – 848 confirmed and 88 probable, Southbury – 1,236 confirmed and 222 probable, Woodbury – 565 confirmed and 79 probable, Watertown – 2,189 confirmed and 299 probable, and Waterbury – 14,695 confirmed and 1,587 probable.
