Mrs. James (Painter) Pickett, 87, of Middlebury passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the widow of James V. Pickett, Jr. who was the love of her life.
Barbara was born in Waterbury August 27, 1933, the daughter of the late David and Lola (Sawyer) Painter. Besides being a homemaker, Barbara later worked as an assistant in the legal department of Uniroyal in Oxford until retirement.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Sharon Pickett, and her husband, Paul Mazzilli, of Scarborough, New York; her brother, Donald Painter of San Diego, California; her sister-in-law, Irene Pickett of Wolcott; her grandchildren, Meredith Mazzilli (Patrick Steed) and Nicholas Mazzilli (and his cat Cholula) all of New York City; five nieces; and a nephew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Church in Middlebury, where she was an active parishioner. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Middlebury Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Brookside Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home at 200 Benson Road in Middlebury has been entrusted with the arrangements.
