The Little Britches Therapeutic Riding annual 5K fundraiser will be a virtual walk/run from Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 8 am to Monday, June 28, at 8 am. Register for this event here. The first 100 registered participants will receive a registration packet with a race t-shirt and a race bib.
This event has run for the past seven years in the beautiful town of Bridgewater, allowing runners to enjoy a day of racing and fun activities for participants of all ages. Little Britches decided that this year’s 5k Run/Walk would be a virtual event once again.
They are asking participants to share pictures from wherever they walk/run the day of the event and to tag Little Britches in their social media posts. They also encourage participants to create a fundraising page on https://littlebritchesct.myevent.com.
Founded in 1979 by Peg Sweeney and Betty Lou McColgin, Little Britches aims to change the lives of people with disabilities using the movement of the horse. It operates at Tophet Road Farm, a private farm in Roxbury, Connecticut, where they serve approximately 80 individuals per week from 32 towns in the tri-county area.
Little Britches provides an opportunity for its students to participate in a sport; they are no longer spectators sitting on the sidelines. They are riders in the center of the ring – they become sports stars.
