The state daily test positivity rate as of Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 3.37%, down from 3.55% Sunday, August 15, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.
On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 344 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 59 patients since Sunday. Through Wednesday, August 18, deaths numbered 8,330, an increase of 23 deaths since August 11. Deaths are reported once a week.
Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 653 (+5) confirmed and 104 (+3) probable, Naugatuck – 3,321 confirmed and 397 probable, Oxford – 900 confirmed and 94 probable, Southbury – 1,296 confirmed and 249 probable, Woodbury – 591 confirmed and 88 probable, Watertown – 2,276 confirmed and 336 probable, and Waterbury – 15,220 confirmed and 1,898 probable.
