This is an increase of 1,336 cases over three days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 1.70%, down from 1.80% on Sunday, October 3, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday 8:30 p.m., 230 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, 11 fewer than on Sunday. Through Wednesday, October 6, deaths numbered 8,667, an increase of 38 deaths since September 29. Deaths are reported once a week.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 702 (+3) confirmed and 114 (+1) probable, Naugatuck – 3,557 confirmed and 474 probable, Oxford – 1,001 confirmed and 107 probable, Southbury – 1,399 confirmed and 272 probable, Woodbury – 632 confirmed and 111 probable, Watertown – 2,459 confirmed and 390 probable, and Waterbury – 16,026 confirmed and 2,114 probable.
