Senior/Social Services Director JoAnn Cappelletti is asking for turkey donations so food bank clients can cook a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Demand this year is higher than ever; as of November 5, she needs 35 more turkeys.
She has freezer space at Shepardson Community Center, so donations can be dropped off while the Senior Center is open (9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Friday). If you can donate a turkey, please let Cappelletti know by calling her at 203-577-4166, ext. 3.
At this time, it looks as if other donations are all set. Middlebury Elementary School always collects nonperishables for the meal, and fresh produce may be all set, too. If other items are needed, we will post an update.
Those needing food bank help with their Thanksgiving meal are encouraged to contact Cappelletti at the number listed above as soon as possible so she will be able to provide what they need. Turkeys will be distributed to families on Friday, November 19, and Monday, November 22.
