The Middlebury Lions Club holiday ornament, which fell victim last year to the COVID-19 pandemic, returns this year featuring one of the town’s favorite events, the St. George’s Episcopal Church annual Gingerbread Village, a tradition now in its 54th year. A limited number of prior years’ ornaments are available. The club also will sell luminarias again this year.
Ornaments are $20 each with a ribbon for hanging or $25 each with a stand. Find them at Sullivan’s Jewelers, Old Towne Spirits (formerly Larry’s), Middlebury Fine Wine and Spirits, the Tax Collector’s office in town hall, and in the Parks and Rec office in Shepardson Community Center.
The ornaments are produced by Hestia Creations of Marblehead, Mass., in hand-painted acrylic.
Luminaria Sales
Brighten your driveway and walkways with luminarias from the Middlebury Lions Club. Each $6 luminaria kit has 12 white bags and 12 10-hour candles. Place them along driveways and walkways at dusk on Christmas Eve or light them as part of your New Year’s Eve celebration.
Buy them at Middlebury Fine Wine, Old Towne Spirits (formerly Larry’s) and Vaszauskas Farm, all on Route 64, or at the Transfer Station Saturday, December 11, from 8 am to 2 p.m. Proceeds from ornament and luminaria sales support local scholarship and community assistance funds.
