COVID kit distribution tentative plans

UPDATED 12/29/2021 at 6:15 p.m. Town of #Middlebury sent out a Code Red call saying the planned COVID-19 kit distributions on Thursday, December 30, Friday, December 31 and Monday, January 3 have been canceled.

UPDATED 12/29/2021 at 5:15 p.m. #Middlebury Gov. Lamont announced the #COVID19 test kits that were to be distributed starting Thursday, Dec. 30, have not yet arrived in the state. The governor’s press release said, “Due to shipping and warehouse delays outside of the State of Connecticut’s control, our state’s anticipated shipment of COVID-19 at-home rapid tests are currently delayed from arriving in Connecticut. ”

UPDATED 12/28/2021 at 1:30 p.m. to change the distribution times listed for Thursday, December 30, and add information for distribution to seniors.

Middlebury Fire Chief Brett Kales on Tuesday, December 28, shared his tentative plans for distributing the COVID-19 test kits provided by the state. Governor Lamont announced the plans Monday, December 27, at 11 a.m. Kales said the Middlebury Volunteer Fire Department is tasked with distributing the kits, which are to be available to them Thursday, December 30.

Provided he is able to get the kits Thursday morning as expected, Kales said he plans to distribute them to Middlebury residents with proof of residency on Thursday, December 30, from 1 to 5 p.m. and on Friday, December 31, from 8 a.m. to noon at the firehouse on Tucker Hill Road in Middlebury. Seniors aged 50 and older may get a kit Monday, January 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Senior Center in Shepardson Community Center at 1172 Whittemore Road.

Announcement of the final plans will be made via Code Red and the MVFD and town websites and Facebook pages.
