The state daily test positivity rate as of Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 20.33%, up from 10.71% on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.,

On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 1,151 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 226 patients since Sunday. Through Wednesday, December 29, deaths numbered 9,160, an increase of 83 deaths since December 22. Deaths are reported once a week.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 888 (+16) confirmed and 172 (+5) probable, Naugatuck – 4,558 confirmed and 795 probable, Oxford – 1,425 confirmed and 188 probable, Southbury – 1,810 confirmed and 375 probable, Woodbury – 869 confirmed and 181 probable, Watertown – 3,092 confirmed and 528 probable, and Waterbury – 19,762 confirmed and 2,748 probable.
