Dear Editor:
We would like to thank former State Representative Anthony D’Amelio for his tireless work effort and dedication representing the Town of Middlebury in the Connecticut House of Representatives. Tony served our municipality assiduously since 1996. His professionalism and competence will be missed.
On February 22, a special election will take place for D’Amelio’s vacant district seat. William Pizzuto, Ph.D., is a Republican candidate for the 71st State Representative’s post. A current Middlebury and former Waterbury resident, Dr. Pizzuto is presently the Director of the University of Connecticut campus in Waterbury. He serves on advisory boards for Naugatuck Valley Community College, Waterbury Hospital, and Savings Bank of Danbury. Dr. Pizzuto was a former City of Waterbury Alderman and one-time member of the Police and Fire Boards.
An urgent concern of his is to help pass legislation to abate the juvenile crime calamity confronting Connecticut communities. An initiative on Pizzuto’s mind is how to create a more affordable place for Connecticut residents to live.
Polling will occur February 22 at the Shepardson Community Center from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. All Middlebury registered voters are eligible to participate. Absentee ballot applications are available through the town clerk’s office.
Please consider supporting Dr. William Pizzuto in the 71st District State Representative race. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a Middlebury resident at the state capital again? Not since Robert Whittemore, in 1963, has our town had a member of the Connecticut Legislature from its hometown.
