On Thursday, February 17, 2022, Connecticut state officials said from Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 8:30 p.m. to Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 8:30 p.m., the number of COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 718,064 cases. This is an increase of 6,369 cases over one week. The state daily test positivity rate as of Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at 8:30 p.m. was 4.71%, up from 4.45% on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at 8:30 p.m.

On February 16 at 8:30 p.m., 325 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 204 patients since February 9. Through Wednesday, February 16, deaths numbered 10,324, an increase of 105 deaths since February 9.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 1,167 (+49) confirmed and 225 (-2) probable, Naugatuck – 6,216 confirmed and 1,196 probable, Oxford – 1,920 confirmed and 261 probable, Southbury – 2,441 confirmed and 557 probable, Woodbury – 1,176 confirmed and 235 probable, Watertown – 3,976 confirmed and 712 probable, and Waterbury – 27,721 confirmed and 3,835 probable.
